Telling Jesus All the Things

Telling Jesus All the Things

Love is serving, and it is companionship. Be authentic in your affection for Me. Let us be honest with one another.

Retreat to a quiet place. Get comfortable. Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling, for a few minutes.

Let your mind empty as you surrender your worries and fears—all your anxiety. Picture yourself giving each concern to Jesus now, and consecrate this time of prayer and connection to Him.

Jesus, You are welcome here. Fill my heart and mind with your presence. I surrender myself to You completely. I consecrate my mind, heart, and body. Fill me anew with your love.

Allow your imagination to give you a picture of you and Jesus together now. What are you doing? What is He doing? How does this make you feel?

Tell Him how you feel about Him. Tell Him all that is on your mind, perhaps writing it in your journal. Don’t hold back—be real and honest. Share with Him all your emotions—joy, gratitude, doubts, and fears.

Jesus, thank You for being here with me. I love You. I need You. I want to tell You about this….

After you share your heart with Him, pause for His response. You may hear Him speak to you in your heart, or He may be quiet as He sits with you. Enjoy His presence. You might want to write in your journal what you hear Him say or just how you feel being with Him, even if you two sit in silence together.

Jesus, I hear You say…

This is how I feel being with You…

Next, read the following Psalm a few times. Speak it to Jesus. Say the words to Him slowly and thoughtfully, pausing to take in the meaning of each sentence. Make each line of the Psalm specific to your life, emotions, and situation.

Psalm 51

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
    and cleanse me from my sin.

How do you need God’s mercy now? Tell Him. Say everything that is on your heart.

3 For I know my transgressions,
    and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
    sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
    you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

Lord, I confess….(be specific)
Then listen for His voice….

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
    wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins
    and blot out all my iniquity.

What do you see Jesus doing in this moment?

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Look into Jesus’ eyes as you speak these words…What do you see in His gaze?

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
    so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
    you who are God my Savior,
    and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
    and my mouth will declare your praise.

Perhaps move your body nowwith your feet and hands, your head and torso, to show with your posture what these words mean to you.

16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
    you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart
    you, God, will not despise.

18 May it please you to prosper Zion,
    to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous,
    in burnt offerings offered whole;
    then bulls will be offered on your altar.

After you speak this prayer to Jesus, close your eyes and relax near Him for a few minutes. What do you see HIm doing? What do you hear Him saying to you?

If you can, continue connecting with Jesus in this quiet place—or on a walk.  If you like to worship Him with music, below are some songs you might want to play out loud or sing. Or, continue to worship Him in your heart.

Amen.
