Kindness & Vulnerability

(Seeing Ourselves and Letting Ourselves Be Seen)

Open your heart, dear one. Your bravery rests on Me. I can be brave for you. I can help you keep your heart open wide. I can help you to see what I see.

Imagine yourself as a child now, holding onto your Father’s hand. Let Him lead you to a place of rest where the two of you can be together. That might be outside, underneath a tree, where you can feel the fresh air on your skin and observe the flowers, the drops of night’s kiss still on the leaves.

Or He might lead you to a place inside where you can curl up next to Him–on a chair or a bed or a carpeted floor. In either spot, you might want to grab a blanket and tuck it around you, Let Him pull you to Him. You are safe here. You are wanted. You are where He wants to be.

When you are settled, take a deep breath and close your eyes. Continue breathing slowly, evenly, and deeply with your eyes closed for at least two minutes. If you have headphones, this might be a good time to put them in and listen to instrumental music if that helps you block out distractions around you.

Slowly, carefully, read the verses (Matthew 11: 28-30) below:

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (MSG).

Underline the one or two words that feel like love letters just from Him to you.

And then, read the lyrics to the following song, based upon that scripture, imagining your Father singing it over you:

Are you burnt out on religious things?

Are you worn down, lacking inner peace?

Take a real rest, walk along with Me

In the pastures of My presence, you can be yourself

And you can say what's on your heart

I already knew it all

Doesn't matter what you say

Come and get away with Me

I know where you are

Where you've been, what you've seen

Doesn't matter how you come

Come and get away with Me

Get away, get away with Me

Are you burdened from all the heavy days?

It's not your job to shoulder all the weight

Let Me do it, let Me come and take

The lies you've been believing in

The truth is that you have a place

To say what's on your heart

I already know it all

Doesn't matter what you say

Come and get away with Me

I know where you are

Where you've been and what you've seen

Doesn't matter how you come

Come and get away with Me

Oh, get away, get away with Me

Getaway, get away with Me

(Oh, there's more than you always need)

Oh, grace upon grace, upon grace, let Me lead

Getaway, getaway with Me

”Getaway,” TAYA

What is your response to God’s song to you? Are you still curled up with Him? Do you imagine yourself dancing with Him? Are you sad? Content? Tired? Spend some time listening to His heartbeat as you give Him your whole heart now, all you are thinking and feeling.

Give Him every heaviness you feel. Give Him every pain.

Amen.
