When God’s Love Has No Ceiling
Give Me your impatience. Bask in Me. Relax in Me.
Swim and move in my love, for you are delightful to Me.
See the multicolored tent above you, a sky with no ceiling. Live expansively with Me. Be open to cleaning out all notions you hold that make Me small.
Where are my limits? Why do you attest to seeing them? Who are you to decide what I will do and what I won’t? What comfort do you find in doubting my love and strength? Let Me show you my love. I want to release it now.
“But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
where there was nothing to dread” (Psalm 53:5a).
* * *
Deep breath now, dear one. How are you? Where are you? Will you find a place to sit now–to rest your weary legs and heart?
When you have found a place where you can be quiet and undisturbed for at least half an hour, begin with this prayer:
Inhale: I am with you, Jesus.
Exhale: You are here with me.
Keep your eyes closed and continue breathing deeply and slowly–in and out—as you pray.
Next, consecrate this time of encounter to Jesus. Give Him every worry and concern.
Jesus, fill my heart. Fill my mind. I give you my full attention and trust. In this moment, I give you… (Be specific and name each worry and concern you are giving him now.)
In this encounter, Holy Spirit invites us to give Him our impatience, to “bask” and “relax” in Him.
Close your eyes and spend a few moments (maybe five minutes) with your imagination surrendered and open, picturing yourself doing this right now.
Lord, I give You my impatience. I want to bask in You, relax in You. Let me swim
and move in your love. You delight in me. and I delight in You.
Next, consider His following words to you:
See the multicolored tent above you, a sky with no ceiling. Live expansively with Me. Be open to cleaning out all notions you hold that make Me small.
Close your eyes again, picturing this visual of the multicolored tent above you. Ask Holy Spirit to show you and help you understand what living “expansively” with Him looks like right now.
Lord, show me the tent. Show me underneath it with You.
Show me what living “expansively” means.
Show me how I am making you small.
Trust Holy Spirit with your imagination. Trust that He will give you a visual of what He means for you. Trust that He wants all of you, your whole heart and that He will help you surrender it wholly to Him.
Continue engaging with Holy Spirit. He says,
Let Me show you my love. I want to release it now.
As you stay closely connected with Holy Spirit and remain in conversation, your heart and His, what do you see? What are you experiencing? What is giving you now? Write about or draw your experience in your journal:
Lord, when You show me your love, I think….and feel….
Next, spend some time engaging with Psalm 47, written below. Read it at least three times. Perhaps you’ll want to read it aloud, dance to it, or sing it aloud.
Psalm 47
1 Clap your hands, all you nations;
shout to God with cries of joy.
2 For the Lord Most High is awesome,
the great King over all the earth.
3 He subdued nations under us,
peoples under our feet.
4 He chose our inheritance for us,
the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.
5 God has ascended amid shouts of joy,
the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth;
sing to him a psalm of praise.
8 God reigns over the nations;
God is seated on his holy throne.
9 The nobles of the nations assemble
as the people of the God of Abraham,
for the kings of the earth belong to God;
he is greatly exalted.
After you have read the Psalm a few times, open your journal and rephrase it so it is told from your personal perspective. Remember that you are His child. Talk and sing right to Him.
Lord, my love for you makes me want to clap my hands, and your love makes me shout out loud for joy!
I love you! You are awesome! …….
When you have rewritten the Psalm, imagine yourself again underneath the multicolored tent, “a sky with no ceiling.” As you picture yourself there, basking in God’s love, read or sing aloud your Psalm to Him. Stand up and dance to express how your heart feels.
Amen.
